APPLICATIONS |
||
Trazodone hydrochloride, derived from triazolopyridine, is used as an
antidepressant agent to relieve depressive episodes with or without prominent
anxiety. But it is not a tri or tetra cyclic compounds which most
antidepressants have structurally. It activates serotonin uptake blockers and serotonin receptor agonist.
It is also used to treat diabetic neuropathy
and other types of chronic pain. It is a water soluble white to
off-white crystalline powder.
The chemical designation is
2-[3-[4-(3-chlorophenyl)-1-piperazinyl]propyl]-1,2,4-triazo-lo[4,3-a]
pyridin-3(2H)-one hydrochloride. It is also called molipaxin. |
